Add Google Calendar to WordPress

Let’s see how you can put a Google Calendar on your WordPress blog. Google provides this helpful tool that allows you to display your future events to the visitors of your site.

You can also share a lot of details about the events with your visitors, such as where the event is happening, when it’s happening, what it’s about, and how much it costs.

The best thing about putting Google Calendar on WordPress is that if you make any changes to your Google Calendar, they will automatically show up on your website.

Firstly, if you don’t have a Google Calendar, you need to make one. For that, open this link in your web browser. Look for the “+” sign and click on it. Then choose “Create a new calendar,” just like shown in the picture above.

Next, you simply have to give a name to your calendar, put a brief description, and finally, select the correct time zone.

Now, you must make the calendar you just created accessible to everyone. To do this, open your calendar settings, go to “Access permissions for events,” and tick the box that says “Make available to the public.”

Next, you need to generate an embed code for your calendar. Go to “Integrate calendar” from the settings, and there you’ll find an “Embed code”. Keep this embed code handy in a notepad, as we will need it in the upcoming steps.

If you want to change the look of your calendar, you can do things like changing the background color, altering the width and height, and deciding where different information, like the title, date, or time zone, is shown.

Now let’s put Google Calendar into WordPress. Choose any post or page where you want to show the calendar. For this example, I’m using posts. To go to your Posts, find “Posts > All Posts.”

Then, hit the “+” icon and put the “Shortcode” block into the editor like in the image you see.

Now, put the Google Calendar embed code that you copied earlier and save your post.

Finally, check your post to see if Google Calendar is showing up properly. As you can see in the image, my calendar is there on the post. Also, if people click on any date, they’ll be able to see what’s happening on that day.
